Do all birds fly?  No.  Among the flightless birds, the penguins and the ratites are the best know.  Ratites include emus, kiwis, ostriches, rheas, and cassowaries.  They are called ratite because they lack a keel on the breastbone.  All of these birds have wings but lost their power to fly millions of years ago.

Can any bird fly upside down?
The hummingbird is the only bird that can fly upside down.  They can do so because of their angled wing structure, but they can accomplish the maneuver for only a short period of time.  Hummingbirds can also fly
backwards in order to remove
their bills from tube flowers.
