Technique: The sweeping formation of the sand begs the question, are you next?  Having witnessed the one house built on sand crumbling, will you too build your house on a weak foundation?

Inspiration: Like a house of cards, the fool’s life crumbles.  Most people do not deliberately seek to build on a false or inferior foundation; instead, they just don’t think about their life’s purpose.  Many people are headed for destruction, not out of stubbornness but out of thoughtlessness.  Part of our responsibility as believers is to help others stop and think about where their lives are headed and to point out the consequences of ignoring Christ’s message.

What does this passage really mean?  “a foolish man who built his house on sand”?  Could it be that man is foolish if his foundation is based on man as opposed to God?  What, after all, was man created from?  the dust of the earth.  Isn’t this therefore a confirmation that man who builds his house/foundation on man will not stand!  Once again the Lord our God uses what we are made of to bring home His point.  We are like sand.  We were made of the dust of the ground and cannot be the appropriate foundation to build upon.
