Professional Summary

Olivia Cameo Lewis was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, April 25, 1954.  She came to know Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour on August 11, 1977.  Married to Wayne J. Lewis, an engineer and photographer, together they have three children:  Shelley Ann Beckett born August 11, 1972, Lilani Keiki-Aina Garcia born January 17, 1974 and Gregory Todd Lewis born February 14, 1975.  Olivia is also a grandmother by daughter Lilani:  Corina Cameo born August 29, 1993 and Cierra Eve born December 29, 1999 and by daughter Shelley:  Cole Thomas born May 12, 2005.

A mark of Christian artist Olivia Cameo Lewis is her portrayal of both sin and grace.  Much Christian art today (of the sort sold in bookstores) is "uplifting" in a sentimental and optimistic way, as if looking on the sunny side were a cure for the cancer of human sin.  Today we are so obsessed with positive thinking and feeling good about ourselves, we hardly see ourselves as desperate sinners in sore need of Jesus.

Lewis shows in no uncertain terms the repulsiveness of sin, while at the same time conveying a deep compassion for the sinners.  In doing so, she is perhaps imitating the double vision of God, whose condemnation of our sin does not negate the love He has for us.

Lewis engages the imagination of our age without selling out to it.  Each painting is profoundly original while upholding and continuing the Christian tradition.  Each draws on Scripture for inspiration, resulting no in one static formula but a multitude of Biblically informed styles.  Each achieves the Biblical balance of form and freedom.

Olivia Cameo Lewis has been painting since 1996 and has exhibited her art nationally and internationally and is a recipient of numerous awards.  Represented by the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington,  D.C., Olivia is also a Commission Advisor Panelist for Public Art for the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture.  Her works have appeared in such publications as "Christianity and the Arts Magazine", "Inspiration Art and Scripture", the North County Times" a San Diego, California newspaper and the "Christian Times" newspaper.  She now does speaking tours on topics as "Cultural Christian Art", "Art Theory", "Getting Art Back Into the Church", "Can Art Be God's Calling for You?" and "The Incunabula of Art."  She attributes much of her success to the example and encouragement of her adored sister, Patricia Ann De Castro.

Due to popular requests, Olivia now offers Limited Edition Iris printed "giclee" reproductions of a few select original artworks in addition to prepackaged postcards and greeting cards.
